The THREADS Series, and the smaller INTERWOVEN Series, continue the exploration of using abstracted faces to represent of our universal similarities. It began with the notion of common threads: all the different elements and experiences that form who we are or that interweave to connect us to others. The notion of threads of time or thought continuing through our lives is familiar to us all.
Here the threads loosely form a face, it is nearly tangible and at the same time nearly unraveled and fleeting. In these highly unusual pieces the solidity and strength of the metal is a compelling contrast to the delicate open weave. The bronze is burnished and left in its natural color. it is sealed with a laquer to preserve the bright raw metal look and feel.
