Throughout her career Susan has continued to work with the concept of only showing a part of the figure or face.  
The FACE FRAGMENT SERIES covers various sizes.  From the LARGE FACE FRAGMENTS, which are scaled for a bold presence inside or outside, to the sets of wall hanging SMALL FACE FRAGMENTS, which are presented in intimate groups.  Regardless of the scale they each deal with the intrigue of partial faces with only hints of expressions or emotions.  They are eyeless faces with a subtle tilt of the head and barely open mouths, suggesting an inhaled breath or whisper.

The Large Face Fragments make an impressive statement when grouped together or just displayed individually.  Shown here at the corner of the famous Canyon Road in Santa Fe, NM.  The bronzes are perfectly suited to be outdoor sculptures.  When placed together the interaction of the heads is quietly provocative.  An intriguing interplay is developed between the expressionless, eyeless faces through the tilt of their heads and softly open mouths; suggesting whispers or shared sighs.

The City of Edmond, OK purchased LARGE FACE FRAGMENTS II, III, and IV for their Art In Public Places Program.

 The Large Faces add a dramatic impact to a garden or patio settings.

Set of 5 bronzes, edition of 12.  This set is the latest series of smaller face fragments.  The five faces are arranged looking from one side to the other.  The patina on the faces is silver nitrate, and the sides are polished bronze, which reflects a warm glow of light onto the wall and between each head.  The individual heads are 5" x 5" x 6" high.  Together they create a powerful installation that can be hung horizontally or vertically. intallation as shown is 6" x 31" x 5" deep. 

Installed vertically the set provides a large presence in a small space.

Each head is approximately 5.5" x 5" x 5", the installation as shown is 45" long.
